I went to the mall yesterday and I passed by a video store which had a big sale on many selected items. I got psyched in taking advantage of it as prices were practically 50% to 75% off! With this kind of offer, of course, there were many people who flocked to the store and I was one of them.
I came across a lot of films which I have already watched on cable as well as in cinemas but there was one movie which I really liked during my junior year in high school that I really want to get hold of. I searched for it among the racks of DVDs and VCDs but I didn’t see it. It occurred to me that asking assistance from the store attendant will definitely help me in looking for it and yes, I was absolutely right. When I asked the store attendant for a copy of the movie, 10 Things I Hate About You, it only took him 3 seconds to locate it. I was sure glad I thought about asking for assistance or else I could have spent an hour or more looking for it.
10 Things I Hate About You was a romantic comedy film shown in 1999 which stars Julia Stiles (Katarina Stratford), Heath Ledger (Patrick Verona), Larisa Oleynik (Bianca Stratford) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cameron James). The story was very light and simple but it definitely left a mark in me especially during my teenage years. After all these years, I still feel Kat’s poem very striking. Here it goes:
I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair.

I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme.

I hate it when you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call.
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you.
Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.
