Then the time came when I saw one of my friends get his cheque for the month and he earned more than six hundred dollars and I was impressed. It occurred to me that one can really blog for money. A friend recommended me to check out smorty.com and see if my blog can be approved and I was very grateful that they gave me a chance to get paid to blog.

There was a time when my friend and I went to the mall to buy some groceries and other stuff. We happen to pass by the Bingo place and we became psyched to try it out. It was our first time so what we did was to observe first how things work. As we sit and watch the Bingo players become excited as they hear each number under a corresponding letter being called, we also felt their excitement and wanted to play it ourselves. Since we were novice on this game, we only bought a few Bingo cards and asked the card seller on some instructions on how to play the game. We learned that each game corresponds to a particular game card and pattern. Each time a number is called under a certain letter, one must make sure that these two details need to follow the given pattern for the current game. It was an easy game to play but a player certainly needs to pay attention and be detail-oriented because sometimes we mistakenly shaded a number thinking that it was correct only to find out later that we shaded it under the wrong letter. As the game prospered and everyone was thrilled to know who will get the jackpot prize, someone from the back shouted out the magic word, “BINGO!” and everyone else felt disappointed. It certainly is a game of chance.
With the fun experience that we had, my friend and I decided to look for great Read the rest of this entry…

I haven’t seen my college friends for a long time and yesterday, one of them made the motion to have our once in a blue moon rendezvous. There was supposedly four of us who will meet, two guys and 2 girls but unfortunately, my other girl friend had her office Christmas party so only three of us will meet. My boyfriend came with us since he was not new in the group. We met in Glorietta at around 6pm and we decided to have dinner at North Park. We had a delectable and sumptuous meal as we chatted about different topics which resulted to a dining experience full of fun and laughter. I think that our voices were quite loud but it was good that people just ignored us.
After dinner, we decided to go to boutiques and looked for stuff for our respective exchange gifts activities. Having bought our presents, we found ourselves heading towards Time Zone. We definitely had a great time as we tried out several machines. As our finale game, the four of us played basketball. Do you know who won? ME! Yes, I absolutely defeated the guys. They were shocked! Men and women both love watches. It is a popular accessory worn by people whether young or old. Aside from being such a useful instrument of telling the time, it gives an additional sense of fashion to whoever wears it. Most of the time, the color, texture and style of the watch is taken into consideration so that it would complement one’s outfit or current mood. If you are sporty or casual, a sporty strapped watch would look good on you. For someone who works in the office or formally dressed for a meeting or cocktail party, a leather or metal strapped watch is suitable.

I just came home from watching the movie The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. I am a sucker for fantasy films like the popular trilogies of The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix and X-Men that is why I didn’t let this movie pass.
The story involves an orphan named Lyra who lives in a fantastical parallel universe wherein a dictative Magisterium threatens to preponderate. When her best mate Roger Parslow was kidnapped, together with other children, and brought to the North, she made significant decisions which led her to rescue him. Along the way, she met several people who played a big part in her journey like the armored bear Loric Byrnison (voice of Ian Mckellen) whom she had a contract with, Serafina Pekkala (Eva Green) who was the queen of the witches, a Texan “aeronaut” (Sam Elliot) who helped Lyra in her quest and many others.
The Golden Compass is the first installment of Pullman’s trilogy, His Dark Materials, in which the pre-publication title was actually The Golden Compasses. The word compasses originally referred to the drawing instrument instead of the navigational compass. The first book was then entitled by Pullman as the Northern Lights and referred to the trilogy as The Golden Compasses. It was the U.S. publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, who omitted the plural form of the title as he believed that the compass refers to Lyra’s alethiometer. Meanwhile in the UK, Pullman changed the title from The Golden Compasses to His Dark Materials but the title The Golden Compass adhered to the publishers and they insisted on publishing the book with the latter title rather than The Northern Lights. When The Golden Compass gained popularity in the United States and Canada, New Line Cinema used this title for the adaptation. Read the rest of this entry…

Christmas is in the air! The cool, crisp breeze at night, the “million stars” perched up on trees and by the roadside covered with dazzling Christmas lights, gigantic Christmas trees in big malls, people rushing to complete their Christmas shoppings, booking trips for Christmas vacation destinations, exchanging gifts, company parties are only some of the noticeable activities around us that would tell us that the holiday season is really coming. This is the time of year that most people look forward to because people simply want to be good to everyone and share good tidings. It’s a season for love, happiness, peace, hope and forgiveness.
This is one of the Christmases that I am looking forward to. I will be going home to my hometown and be with my family. I haven’t spent Christmas with them last year due to work reasons but I am so glad that for this year, I can be with them. I miss my ever loving and supportive parents, my siblings and the friends I left. It has been so long since I have seen them. As the date for my trip home gets closer, I find myself lost in reverie as I tread down memory lane.
In my childhood years, I used to believe in Santa Claus. Yes people, I really believed in this old man in red suit with a bushy white beard and mustache who lives in North Pole with the elves who are very busy preparing gifts for children all over the world. Read the rest of this entry…
