University of the Philippines Celebrates 100th Anniversary

[ 1 Comment ] Posted on 01.08.08 under Current Events

University of the Philippines Celebrates 100th AnniversaryLooked up to as one of the best schools in the country, the University of the Philippines which was established in 1908, celebrated its centennial anniversary today. Different activities were held to highlight the festivity.

Many of us know that the U.P. Oblation which is located at the Diliman Main Library is a popular iconic symbol of this prestigious university. It is represented by a man whose face is tilted toward the heavens and with arms wide open, to symbolize the selfless offering of one’s self to his country.

It was only today that I learned that the Oblation was made by Professor Guillermo Tolentino with the aid of Anastacio Caedo. During the making of this remarkable sculpture, many people thought that the model of the statue was Fernando Poe, Sr. but a book contradicted this claim stating that it was actually Anastacio Caedo who served as the model of the Oblation.

I know that it is quite late to post about this event but I thought that it would also be good to put a closure on this subject since I have blogged about this for quite some time. In fact, I am very grateful on this reality TV series because through this, my blog site was noticed. Talking about this topic increased my site traffic and I am more than happy and grateful for all those people who kept visiting my site to check out on updates about this show as well as other stuff that I blog about and for those people who gave comments on my PBB posts.

With regard to the Big Night, I was able to watch it, but unfortunately, not all of it. I came home from my hometown last Saturday, January 5, and I was so tired that I slept in the late afternoon till around past nine o’clock in the evening. I could say that this was the night that every PBB fan out there has been waiting for. The Big Four, Ruben Gonzaga, Gaby dela Merced, Riza Santos and Will Devaughn, were very excited themselves to know who among them will emerge as the Big Winner. Read the rest of this entry…

Love at First Sight

[ No Comments ] Posted on 01.08.08 under Love and Romance

Love at First Sight“Love at First Sight”. This is a popular cliché that people say every time they meet someone, whom they get interested with, for the first time. The unexplainable intense feeling of a heart beating faster or when you are dumbfounded when you are introduced to the person by a friend, are said to be some of the signs when you experience the feeling of “love at first sight.”

I have several friends who have said this line before and I don’t really agree with them. For me, this kind of feeling is not really “love” but mere infatuation or attraction. You may be attracted to the person you have just met because of his good looks and charming smile or because she is beautiful and sexy, and that is not love at all. In my opinion, for a person to say that he or she loves someone Read the rest of this entry…

How I Met the Love of My Life

[ No Comments ] Posted on 01.08.08 under Love and Romance

This is my own love story. Some of my friends told me that I had an interesting and colorful love life with all the drama I experienced in my past relationships. I was betrayed and hurt and I never thought that all those pains I felt and all the tears I cried will be rewarded with true happiness and will lead me to my one great love.

Here goes my story…

We were neighbors when we were kids. I was 7 years old while my friend JR who lives next door was 9 years old. JR used to go to our house and play games with me and my siblings. He was definitely close to the family. He didn’t know I had a crush on him that time because he only treated me as her younger sister and he had a crush on someone else. My family moved to another place and that’s what’s left of our friendship. We hadn’t seen each other for 11 years and neither did we communicate with each other.

How I Met the Love of My Life

JR didn’t know that when I left, I had a simple prayer from an innocent and young heart like mine. I prayed that someday our paths will meet again and for both of us to be meant for each other. Honestly, when I told him about this, he was shocked and amazed how my innocent feelings for him had led us back together.

When I left the place, we continued with our lives and had our own relationships with other people and the funny thing was, he had forgotten about me but through all those years, the memories we had when we were kids were kept in my heart. Read the rest of this entry…

Emergency Cash Advance

[ No Comments ] Posted on 01.07.08 under Business and Finance

My friend has financial issues at this point. She accidentally misplaced some bills and consequently, she overlooked paying them on their due dates and these bills incurred surcharges and penalties. With the expenses that she made during the past holidays, she is now in a tight budget and could not afford to pay the past due bills. I offered to help and gave her a little sum but it was not enough to pay everything. She asked for assistance from other people but the amount she gathered was still not enough. She was so desperate that I pity her for that.

As a good friend, I helped her look for other means of getting the amount she needs. We looked through the Internet for a company that provides online payday loan services which does not require any credit checks or any obstacles in application and provides really fast cash loan services. I Miss My Family

[ No Comments ] Posted on 01.07.08 under Blogging

I came back to the metropolis last Saturday to face new challenges and continue with the duties and responsibilities that I left behind when I went to have my Christmas vacation. I had more than a day to take some rest before getting on to my duties but I still don’t feel like working again. I miss my family. I was with them for two weeks and being away from them again contributes to the sadness that I feel right now. I need to get use to not having them around me. I don’t know when I am going to see them again. I am being sentimental here and many people may think I am overreacting. I know that I cannot please everyone and I have long accepted that reality. I believe that this is the first time that I shared about my feelings toward my family and it took me quite an amount of courage to talk about this. Maybe, just maybe, I can share more here some other time.
