Employment TrainingI have learned that construction is the largest industry in the UK. There are currently around 2 million people employed in over 700 various types of work. Considered as an essential industry in a country, the demand for it will always be there and anyone who joins it will definitely have many opportunities to enhance their skills and abilities through a variety of training and learning. It is also vital that the people in the workforce are skilled and qualified.

There are different ways to develop the skills and competence of construction workers. As a young individual who wants to start a career in the construction industry, you can gain your skills by being an apprentice and the skills you acquired will be acknowledged by a nationally-recognized and competence-based qualification known as NVQ/SVQs. On the other hand, experienced construction workers can confirm their skills through an On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) or the Experience Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) and consequently, they will gain qualification and get the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card which is now the standard for the industry.

Small businesses do not have to worry on how they can provide employment training to their workers because there are CITB-Construction Skills Grants available dedicated to support the costs of training and development.
