A French teenager’s allegation that an Apple iPhone shattered in his face is a first including the invention but comparable episodes have happened with the iPod as shown by a US TV station.
Marie-Dominique Kolega, whose 18-year-old teenager was smacked in the eye by a portion of glass when the video screen shattered on his girlfriend’s iPhone, has vulnerable to record a grievance against Apple following the incident.
According to Kolega, the handset commenced making a hissing racket and the video screen unexpectedly busted, conveying components floating in the air.
“My teenager was horrified but he did not mislay an eye,” Kolega, of Aix-en-Provence in southerly France, advised AFP.
The report is the first such episode including an iPhone.
But US TV journal place KIRO stated in late July that an “alarming number” of iPods “have unexpectedly broke into fire and smoulder, wounding population and causing impairment property.”
The place said that Apple advocates attempted to finish it from getting in possession of hundreds of pieces of paper of iPod-related written material from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in California, where Apple has its headquarters.
It said the 800 pieces of paper of written material embraced knowledge on “15 consume with blast and fire-related episodes found clear fault by iPod holders on their iPods.”
There were no descriptions of sombre damage, and the source of the difficulty seemed to be overheated lithium ion storage batteries, as shown by the Seattle-based TV station’s re-evaluate of the paperwork.
The CPSC showed that the number of episodes was small deeming the tens of millions of iPods marketed and that such descriptions reduced after Apple obviously modified the storage battery technical knowledge, as showed by KIRO.
There was no instantaneous reply from Apple to AFP appeals for comment.
